Beatific Bhutan Self Drive - Road Tour

Trip Overview

The last great Himalayan Kingdom, cloaked in an aura of mystery and blessed with immense natural beauty, Bhutan is a delightful revelation. Devoted to sustainable tourism practices, the Bhutanese are proud of their humane approach that lays more stress on happiness and well-being of its inhabitants as well as visitors. A road trip through Bhutan will introduce you to a world that wears both its mantles with ease; one of traditional Buddhist cultural values, and another that welcomes contemporary development with open arms. Crossing the border to Bhutan from Siliguri in West Bengal, our sojourn into the ‘Land of the Thunder Dragon’, will begin in Phuentsholing and take us to Paro, Thimphu, Punakha, Phobjikha Valley, Bumthang, Mongar and Samdrup Jongkhar before crossing back into India via the city of Guwahati in Assam.

Faq’s

Yes, it is recommended to have an International Driving License along with your national driving license.

Certain areas, especially near the border regions, may require special permits. It’s essential to check with local authorities and obtain any necessary permits.

Speed limits can vary, but common speed limits are around 40-50 km/h in urban areas and 80 km/h on highways. Always obey posted speed limits.

It’s advisable to avoid driving at night, especially in rural areas, due to limited lighting and road conditions.

In Bhutan, people drive on the left side of the road.

Many areas in Bhutan are at high altitudes, which can affect drivers not accustomed to such conditions. It’s essential to acclimatize gradually, stay hydrated, and avoid overexertion.

Always wear seat belts, drive defensively, and be aware of local road conditions and hazards. Carry a basic emergency kit, including a first aid kit, flashlight, and emergency contact information.
