Adventures Overland is not new to the world of travel. Year 2013-14 was an epic year which expanded our profile and took us around the world to explore the diversity of landscape, human kind and their habitat. “The Great Indian World Trip” was an extraordinary journey which took us around 6 continents driving 90,000 km in 50 countries. The entire journey was shot to capture our experiences on the road and was broadcasted on DISCOVERY channel in India as a 10 episode travel series.

Our team also humbly boasts of a Guinness World Record for driving the longest distance in a single country (Australia) during this journey and we also hold 7 Limca Records in Adventure category back home. We have served people from all over the world and feel very proud that our customers keep coming back to us again and again. DAY 01

Delhi – Narkanda (450 kms / 09 Hrs) via Ambala, Simla and Narkanda

delhiStay amidst apple orchards in Narkanda. Our host will regale us with stories and history of the place over a bonfire and buffet dinner. We leave Delhi at dawn so we arrive in time to watch the sun set in Narkanda.

DAY 02

sanglaNarkanda – Sangla (150 kms / 5 hrs)

Early morning orchard walk followed by breakfast. We leave for Sangla in Kinnaur district, and picnic on the way. Reach in time for evening tea and to enjoy the crisp twilight zone. Enjoy buffet dinner over a bonfire at Banjara Camps.

DAY 03

Sangla – Chitkul – Sangla (60 kms / 2 hrs)

spiti-valleyEnjoy the beauty and adventure of Sangla valley to the full on this day. We drive to Chitkul, a pretty village on the ancient Hindustan – Tibet route. Those interested can hike 5 kms to the armed forces border post overlooking China while others picnic.

There is also the option to try your hand at rock climbing, Rappelling and River Crossing – extra charges may apply for some of these.

Day 04

Day Hikes in Sangla

sanglaSangla is know for its day hikes. Those looking for soft adventure can join the Raksham walk that takes you along rivers, through meadows and forests and over glaciers. And for the hardier lot, there is the challenging Meadows walk that will have you seeking a masseur at the end of the day.

Also visit the pretty villages around, and enjoy sitting along the Baspa river.

DAY 05

sangla-spiti-valleySangla – Nako – Tabo – Kaza (240 kms / Full Day)

This will be a day full of driving fun. We start pre-dawn to catch the early morning serenity of Kalpa, the only place in India where pine-nuts (chilkozas) grow. And you cannot but feel over-awed with the Kinner Kailash peak looking down upon you.

We then go on to the small but picturesque Nako lake – we also lunch along the banks of the lake. We then proceed to Tabo, with its awesome mud monastery dating back to 996 A.D., the oldest in the country. Look up to the mountain faces, and you will find caves where people still live.

We continue on to Kaza at an altitude of 12,000 feet, reaching in the evening for a much-deserved rest at Banjara Retreat.

DAY 06

Exploring Kaza

kazaThe villages around Kaza are believed to be the highest in the world, mostly caught in their own time warp. The drives to these are stunning to say the least, and we visit some including Kibber and Komic. We also drop in at theKey Monastery, perched on a cliff looking down at the spectacular valleys below.

DAY 07

kazaKaza – Chandra Taal – Losar (135 kms / 6 hrs)

This will be most memorable day of the whole drive. We make a pre-dawn departure and head to the majestic Kunzum La (pass) where strong winds blow all year, and snow flakes fall even in summers. We drive on a 12 kms dirt track followed by a 2 kms hike to get to the spectacular Chandra Taal (lake) where we picnic before heading back. We reach Losar at night – and settle in to basic accommodation with a smile.

DAY 08

Losar – Manali (145 kms / 6 – 7 hrs)

manaliWe leave at dawn for Manali for yet another day of memorable driving via the Rohtang Pass. We will drive along and over rivers, cross glaciers, and bump along undulating tracks. It may be dusk when we reach Manali – where we celebrate the journey over pizzas and champagne.

DAY 09

Manali – Delhi (570 kms / 13 hrs)
delhi-tourTime to head back to Delhi – or wherever one wants to head to. We part ways with a promise to meet again.
