Arrival in Buenos Aires
Welcome to Buenos Aires! Also known as the “Paris of South America,” the capital of Argentina is a city defined by passion. It’s known for its rich tango heritage and citizens’ limitless enthusiasm for fútbol (soccer), the country’s most popular sport. When you land, a driver will pick you up from the airport and take you to your hotel, where you can rest and recharge after your long flight. But make no mistake, the city will beckon you. So spend minimum time in the hotel and venture out into the welcoming arms of Buenos Aires; our trip planner will guide you. Explore the fabulous nightlife of Buenos Aires, a city that thrives after dark. It is not uncommon for locals to have dinner well past nine in the evening so make the most of your first evening in Latin America.
Buenos City Tour & Tango performance
Today, explore the charms of Buenos Aires in all its glory! The part of your Argentina customized holiday package trip includes visits to all major places of interest in the city including Retiro, Recoleta, Avenida 9 de Julio (the world’s widest avenue!), and the historic and architecturally imposing Center. You will also see the modern docklands of Puerto Madero, visit San Telmo, the oldest neighborhood of the city and conclude the tour at the city’s oldest port and birthplace, La Boca (Caminito). In La Boca, you will find the iconic and colourful South American buildings and it is also the place littered with local restaurants where you can witness a passionate Tango Dance performance by local dancers. Feel free to request them to teach you how to tango! In the evening, enjoy a delicious meal with free-flowing wine while watching a professional tango performance. Now that sounds like a plan!
Buenos Aires to Ushuaia
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. This day will be relatively relaxed and at leisure since the next day will feature more physical, outdoor adventures. Located on a bay in the Patagonian region of Tierra del Fuego, the city of Ushuaia sits between the jagged peaks of the Martial Mountains and the silver waters of the Beagle Channel. Make sure to get out and walk along the waterfront for a better glimpse of the majestic mountains and impressive channel. Our Argentina custom tour package suggests the following activities – stroll the streets of downtown, stop in at the prison museum, visit the Museo del Fin del Mundo (end of the world museum) and definitely sample the local cuisine.
Penguins on Isla Martillo & Estancia Harberton
After breakfast at your hotel, it is time to say hola to the local Penguins! The Penguin tour starts at the Ushuaia pier, where you will catch a bus to Estancia Harberton and drive through rugged Fuegian forests until you reach the dock, where a boat will be waiting for you. At the dock, you will board a semi-rigid rubber boat that will take you to an island and give you a chance to see a Magellanic penguin colony (among other species) up close. This guided tour also includes a 90-minute hike to both Isla Martillo and Estancia Harberton, where you will learn about the penguins and their natural habitat. Expect plenty of great photo opportunities. At the end of the tour, you will return to Ushuaia in time for dinner and a night out.
Trekking & Canoeing in Tierra del Fuego
Today, you will spend a day in Tierra del Fuego National Park, one of the most frequently visited places around Ushuaia. There are many wonders within its 155,000 acres, so you’ll want an experienced guide to show you the best hikes, lakes, and lookout points. A minibus will take you to the entrance of the park from where you will need to do a 4.3 mile (7 km) hike on a coastal path that follows the Beagle Channel. Soak in the prime views of the channel along the way and witness the diverse flora and fauna of the area. After the trek, you will reach Lago Roca for a hot and tempting lunch and then hop on a canoe down the Lapataia River, which leads to Lapataia Bay, your ultimate destination
Fly from Ushuaia to El Calafate
This morning, a driver will meet you at your hotel and take you to the airport for your flight to El Calafate, a city that sits on the shores of Lago Argentino and serves as the gateway to Argentina’s glaciers. If you can, get a window seat to take in the stunning views of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field as you fly over it. Upon arrival at El Calafate, a vehicle will be waiting to take you to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day relaxing, or venture into town to see the many quaint shops and cozy cafes. You can also get some information on the nearby glaciers by visiting the Glaciarium, a multi-media center ice museum that has interactive displays and lots of information about glaciers—it even has a bar made completely of ice.
Perito Moreno Glacier Trek
Today is a day that you are going to remember for the rest of your life as you head towards the Los Glaciares National Park. As you enter the park and catch the first glimpse of the Perito Moreno Glacier, you are going to be overwhelmed and left speechless at the stunning and magnificent beauty of this marvel of nature. Keep looking and you will witness “calving,” the incredible sight of ice breaking off the facade and crashing into the tranquil waters below, creating a loud thunder. You will be trekking on top of this glacier wearing crampons and carrying an ice axe with you. A perfectly safe adventure, you will be traversing the surface of Perito Moreno glacier with certified bilingual guides. Enjoy crossing deep, blue ice crevices and hiking over meltwater streams as you experience Perito Moreno up close.
Punta Bandera Harbor – Glacier Boat Tour
In addition to Perito Moreno Glacier, there are a number of other incredible masses of ice in Los Glaciares National Park. You will get a chance to visit a few of these on a full-day boat excursion around Lago Argentino. In fact, you will get so close to the glaciers’ walls that you will practically be able to reach out and touch them. The morning starts with a transfer to Punta Bandera Harbor where you will board a modern catamaran and embark on your journey. As you travel north along the frozen waters of Lago Argentino, you will weave between icebergs and make your way towards Upsala Glacier followed by Seco Glacier and Spegazzini Glacier. The tour ends in the evening when your boat returns to Punta Bandera and from there you will be transferred back to your hotel.
Fly from El Calafate to Mendoza
Catch a morning flight to Mendoza where you will witness a seemingly limitless number of vineyards producing Argentina’s flagship varietal: the Malbec. Originally a French import, the Argentines took this largely ignored berry and ran with it. The result is one of the most robust wines in the world. Mendoza also features some breath-taking scenery and opportunities for outdoor activities. With the Andes Mountains looming over the area’s vineyards, you can enjoy hiking, horseback riding and white-water rafting. Of course, vineyard tours and wine tastings are the most popular things to do in this region. In stark contrast to Buenos Aires, people here move at a relaxed pace, making Mendoza the perfect city to enjoy a leisurely evening stroll.
Wine tasting day trip in Mendoza
Today you will embark on a guided tour of two distinct wine-producing areas around Mendoza: the Maipú Valley and the town of Lujan de Cuyo. Maipú is located a mere 12 miles (20 km) away, while Lujan de Cuyo is located directly adjacent to Mendoza in the south. The first wine tour includes a presentation on the viniculture process followed by wine tasting. The second tour includes another tasting as well as more insight into wine production. You will be having lunch in the winery’s warehouse, where you will enjoy a gourmet menu paired with some of the best wines from the cellar. With a full stomach and a head swirling with all the delicious varietals of Mendoza, you can spend the remainder of the evening relaxing at the hotel.
Full-Day Tour & Trek in Aconcagua National Park
Get ready for some spectacular scenery and a lot of adventure because today you are going to experience a full-day driving tour through the Andes Mountains. After breakfast, you will meet your guide and embark on the first part of the drive, which passes through small mountain villages such as Uspallata, Puente del Inca, Penitentes, and Horcones. From here, the drive continues uphill until a point from where you will have to trek to reach the viewpoint of Mount Aconcagua. Standing at a whopping 22,837 feet (6,961 meters), Aconcagua is the highest peak in South America and one of the seven summits in the world. Be sure to savor the views and snap plenty of photos. At the end of the trek, you will return to the car and drive back to Mendoza.
Fly from Mendoza to Puerto Iguazú
This morning a driver will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the airport. A flight will take you through the Andes mountains and vineyards to the mango trees and rainforest jungles of northern Argentina’s Misiones Province. Here, you will find the jewel in the crown of Argentina: Iguazú Falls, the largest waterfall system in the world. After landing in Puerto Iguazú, you will be transferred and checked into your hotel. Today, you have an option for a half-day tour of the Brazilian side of Iguazú Falls (as opposed to the Argentine side) beginning in the afternoon. This is a good introduction to the falls, as the Brazilian side offers easily accessible viewpoints where you can enjoy the majesty of this natural wonder without the extensive walking that accompanies a visit to the Argentine side.
Explore Iguazú Falls (Argentine Side)
After breakfast, our trip planner will take you to the entrance of Iguazú National Park, the Argentine side of the falls. It is going to be a full-day tour that involves walking the three circuits that weave around the falls. Each circuit offers different vantage points from which to view the falls. The three circuits include The Upper Circuit (1 hour), The Lower Circuit (2 hours) and The Devil’s Throat (2 hours). The Devil’s Throat is the star of the show. A small tourist train leaves from the Cataratas Station and travels 18 minutes to Garganta Station from where you can start the walk. You will walk 3,937 feet (1200 m) over the river until you reach the viewing platform from where you can peer 269 feet (82 m) down into the water, as the Iguazu’s falls thunders all around you.
Fly to Buenos Aires (Free Day)
Have a leisurely breakfast and then board the vehicle to head towards the airport. It is time to return back to Buenos Aires after having ticked of all the items from your bucket list in Argentina and making the most of your Argentina custom tour package. You have experienced what most people can only dream about when they think of Argentina. After landing in Buenos Aires, you will be transferred to your hotel and now that you are visiting Buenos Aires for the second time on the same tour, you will be more familiar with the city and will feel not feel like a stranger anymore. Take your time to do the things you couldn’t do when landed on Argentina, stroll around the friendly neighbourhoods and collect souvenirs in La Boca.

Enjoy your last breakfast in Argentina this morning. The journey concludes and it is time to head back home. However, in case you wish to extend your holiday and explore Argentina further, we will be happy to assist you. When it’s time to leave, a driver will pick you up at your hotel and take you to the airport for your flight home.
