Explore the famous Khajuraho Group of Monuments, one of the highlights of our Madhya Pradesh custom tour package. It is enlisted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986. Khajuraho has India’s largest collection of medieval Hindu and Jain temples, famous for their erotic sculptures. The temples are considered as one of the “Seven Wonders” of India and are believed to be the high point of Indian architectural genius during primitive times. The common perception is that the Khajuraho temples are rich in erotic and sensual sculptures, but only around 10% of these sculptures depict sensuality, the rest of them display various aspects of daily life like farmers at work, musicians composing, women dressing up and more. After exploring and being awestruck by the temples, enjoy an evening of fine dining in your hotel and retire for the night.
Having ticked off the temples of Khajuraho from your bucket list, start driving towards the Bandhavgarh National Park. You will drive through the town of Panna that is famous for its diamond mines. Keep a lookout for a diamond or two lying around on the roadside as you cross Panna and continue driving south-east towards your destination! Stop for lunch somewhere in a local town and roll ahead at a leisurely pace taking in the sounds and smells of Madhya Pradesh. By evening, as you approach the Bandhavgarh National Park, you will be transported into a completely different world from the one you just left behind. Check into your lodge and soak in the sounds of the jungle as you get ready for an exciting wildlife safari the next day.

Don your safari hats and get those cameras ready as you hop into open-top jeeps with your trip planner for an incredible wildlife exploration-cum-adventure. Bandhavgarh, a land of caves is undoubtedly the finest breeding grounds for tigers to strive a healthy population in the wild. There are around 39 caves in Bandhavgarh, but only ‘Badi Gufa’ is accessible for the tourists to take a glimpse. The density of the tiger population at Bandhavgarh (eight tigers per square km) is one of the highest in India, and it has a large breeding population of leopards, foxes, various species of deer and wild dogs. After a relaxed breakfast in the lodge, it is time to leave the jungle behind and once again hit the highway towards Jabalpur. The leisurely drive to Jabalpur will conclude by lunchtime as you check into your hotel. After lunch at the hotel, go for an excursion to a town called Bhedaghat located around an hour’s drive from Jabalpur. Situated on the banks of Narmada River, the idyllic town of Bhed aghatis famous for many sights including the Dhuandhar Falls, Marble Rock, and Chaunsath Yogini Temple, covering major scenic locations you’re your personalized itineraries of Madhya Pradesh. Spend a few hours exploring Bhedaghat and return to Jabalpur by evening.
Today, you are going to complete one week on the road and what better way to celebrate your journey than to drive high up in the mountains towards the little-known hill station of Pachmarhi. Known as the queens of Satpura, Pachmarhi is located at an altitude of 3500 ft above sea level, tucked away in the valley of Satpura ranges. The drive to Pachmarhi is going to be one of the most beautiful and memorable drives of your road trip as you witness mystifying waterfalls, enchanting valleys and lush green mountains along the way. As you soak in the fresh air, you will feel that mother nature herself is opening arms and welcoming you into the wonderful world of Pachmarhi.
Today is going to be the most exciting day of the entire journey as you go out to explore the jewels of Pachmarhi, the only hill station of Madhya Pradesh! There is a lot to see and do in Pachmarhi. It encompasses pristine waterfalls, meandering rivers, densely covered national parks, ancient caves and historic monuments which can make a memorable escapade. You can go on a small trek to explore the hidden but famous waterfall known as the Bee Falls. Also, explore the famous caves of Pachmarhi known as the Pandava Caves, which has a mythological significance in Indian history as it is believed to be the abode of Pandavas during their exile. The rest of the day will be spent exploring this idyllic hill station slowly at your own pace.
Two days in the mountains can never be enough, but there is still a lot more on offer in magnificent Madhya Pradesh! Make an early start and drive towards Sanchi, where you will walk down memory lane, one more time. Upon reaching Sanchi by early evening, you are going to visit the world-famous Sanchi Stupa, also known as the Great Stupa at Sanchi. It is the oldest stone structure in India and was originally commissioned by emperor Ashoka the Great in 3rd century BC. It is decorated with some of the best Buddhist artworks in the world and continues to inspire awe even today as it sits on top of a hill surrounded by the remains of smaller stupas, monasteries, and temples.
It is going to be a long day on the road so wake up early, have a quick breakfast and hit the road towards Orchha. You will arrive by evening and get a few hours to explore this historic town located on the banks of the Betwa River. Explore the famous monuments of Orchha that continue to retain their original grandeur even to this day. Here, you will find some of the most fascinating temples, palaces and monuments such as the famed Chhatris of Orchha cenotaphs that were constructed in honour of its erstwhile rulers. You can also visit the Laxmi Narayan Temple exhibiting a unique architectural style, which is a mix of a fort and a temple and the Jahangir Mahal, built in honour of the Mughal Emperor Jahangir.
Can you believe it that you are already on the last day of the journey? But before you hit the road, pay a visit to the Raja Ram Mandir, the only temple of Lord Rama in India where he is still worshipped as a King and that too in a palace! After visiting the temple, drive back towards Agra. You will reach Agra by evening, and after some rest, proceed for the dinner. Spend the evening reminiscing about the days gone by and enjoy the evening and cherish the memories and friendships you will have garnered in this unique trip!
