Itinerary

DAY 01

Marrakech Welcome to Morocco!

Your Morocco customized holiday package trip starts at Marrakech International Airport from where you will be picked up and transferred to your luxury hotel. Nicknamed the “Red City” for its 1000-year old red sandstone city walls and buildings, Marrakech is a major economic center and home to a thriving medina (old Arab quarter). As the evening progresses, Jemaa el-Fna, the main square and market place of Marrakech comes alive with musicians and storytellers, acrobats and dancers, and even snake charmers. Wander the many rows of food stalls serving everything from full meals to fruit drinks, dried dates, and small snacks where you can grab a bite. For a more relaxed experience, look for one of the many cafés that sit above the square to enjoy a meal while you watch the shows below. Architecture, Desert Safari, Glamping, Nightlife, Road Trip, Star Gazing, Walking Tours

DAY 02

Marrakech – City Tour and Hammam experience

Today, as a part of your Morocco custom tours package, you will be heading out to discover one of the four imperial cities of the ancient Berber empire of Morocco. Discover the exquisite detail of the Ben Youssef Madrasa school of Islam for a taste of 16th-century architecture. Admire the traditional Moroccan artisanship: carved cedar, sculpted plaster, arabesques, Islamic calligraphy, and colorful zellij (mosaic tilework). Spend time exploring Dar Di Said Museum (also known as the Museum of Moroccan Arts) to see exhibits of clothing, antiques, jewellery, and beautifully carved Hispano-Moorish decorations. Relax at a local hammam (spa) which is an ancient tradition in Marrakech, where you can try out ancient beauty rituals. Spas are very common in Morocco and you will find them in all popular hotels in addition to the public spas and baths like the Hammam Dar el-Bacha, which is the largest in the city.

DAY 03

Drive to Aït Benhaddou,

A UNESCO site Today, you will head towards the desert and will be making a two-nights halt enroute to explore more of the country. The drive will pass through the Atlas Mountains and along the way you will also spot Mount Toubkal, the highest peak of Morocco. This four-hour drive will also take you along Tizi n’ Tichka pass and treat you with stunning panoramic views, a curated travel experience to make your Morocco custom tour package memorable. Continue your journey to the medieval Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO protected site and the most famous Kasbah (fort or fortification) in the country. It held an important position along the trans-Saharan trade route. There are many Hollywood scenes shot here for movies and shows such as Gladiator, The Mummy, Prince of Persia, Game of Thrones, etc.

DAY 04

Drive to Erg Chebbi (Sahara Desert) via Ouarzazate and Todra Gorge

After breakfast, continue east to the desert hub along the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs towards Boumalne Dades, passing many small towns where you will see traditional farming methods still in use. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to explore the Todra Gorge, a series of limestone river canyons. As you approach Merzouga—the town closest to the Sahara—stop in the market town of Rissani and be sure to visit the livestock auction as well as the “donkey parking lot”. Leaving Rissani behind, you will start noticing the massive dunes of Erg Chebbi, looming on the horizon. You will leave the car and hop on your personal camel to begin your trek over the dunes until you arrive in the Bedouin style camp. Enjoy a warm dinner by the fire, listening to traditional music.

DAY 05

Day at leisure at Erg Chebbi

Take it easy and take it slow as you explore the Sahara Desert at your own pace today. Rise early to witness a Saharan sunrise, before you head deeper into the desert for some fun experiences. Today, you will have the full day to yourself to explore the stunning surroundings of the Sahara. You can rent a sandboard or a quad ATV and join a local group. In the evening, hike to the top of a nearby dune to watch the setting sun, before enjoying a warm meal prepared by local Berber tribesmen and cozy up by the fire as you are serenaded by live music. Gaze up at the heavens from your romantic spot or walk in a dark corner to stargaze from atop the dunes before you turn in for the night.

DAY 06

Drive to Fes

Today you will be covering a lot of ground as you work your way out of the desert and move north toward Fes, another Imperial city in Morocco. Along the way, you will be making a number of stops. The first stop will be Erfound, a bustling market town known for its date festival, fossil mining and artisan factories. Along the road, you will see many fortified houses known as “ksars,” built by merchants to produce precious goods like gold, salt, and spices. You will continue into the Ziz Valley, known for its hidden oases and palm tree clusters and continue over the Tizi-n-Talremt pass. The scenic journey will take you through the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas mountains and over the Col du Zad Pass. By evening, you will reach Fes, the cultural capital of the country.

DAY 07

Fes

Today, you will explore Fes, the oldest of the Imperial Cities in Morocco. Since the city never experienced much colonial development, much of Fes feels like stepping back in time hundreds of years ago. Fes is also considered as the world’s largest car-free urban zone. Keep an eye out for the mule-drawn carriages that speed through the alleyways. A must-see in Fes is the world’s oldest and the longest-operating institution of higher learning, the University of Al Quaraouiyine, which was founded in 859AD. Visit a honey souk to taste a variety of wild honey and visit a communal hammam bathhouse. Conclude the evening by enjoying the sunset from the Merenid Tombs in the north or Borj Sud in the south; both viewpoints offer fantastic views of this dynamic city with timeless roots.

DAY 08

Drive to the “Blue City” of Chefchaouen

Today, you will say goodbye to Fes and travel north to Chefchaouen. On the way, visit Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is home to Morocco’s best-preserved Roman ruins. You can take a nice break from the road and walk around the massive complex, exploring large merchant homes with visible heating systems, temples, and many well-preserved mosaics. There are usually guides available here to hire on your own if you would like. You will then make your way to Chefchaouen. This little city is a visual delight in blue; walls, doors, windows, stairways, alleyways, and archways–everything is a combination of pastel, sky-blue and deeper, more powerful hues. Chefchaouen is located in the heart of the Rif Mountains and is popular for travelers who want to get the feeling of old Morocco.

DAY 09

Explore Chefchaouen

After breakfast, you will depart for a guided hike in the Rif Mountains. Here, you will get a chance to explore the wilderness among the cedar trees and can also hike to the Cascades d’Akchour, a stunning waterfall that will warrant plenty of photos. On the other side of the river, you can take the steep path to God’s Bridge, a natural rock formation. Once back in Chefchaouen, visit the medina and surround yourself in the beauty of the town. Take a walk to the market, where you can buy some fresh fruit and observe the local people dressed in brightly colored traditional garb. Dinner and the rest of the evening is at leisure before you move on to Casablanca in the morning.

DAY 10

Drive to Casablanca via Rabat

This morning, take note of Chefchaouen’s blue buildings, which glow in the morning light. Make sure to wake up early to watch the sunrise over the mountains from the nearby Spanish mosque. After breakfast, your driver will take you to Casablanca. On the way, you will stop in Rabat, capital of Morocco and home to the royal family. Explore the blue-painted Oudaya neighborhood that sits perched above the Atlantic Ocean. The Kasbah of the Oudayas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the crown jewel of this enclave. You will be shown around few other locations before heading south to Casablanca. In the evening, you are free to explore Casablanca. Check out the local cafes, restaurants, and bars located by the marina.

DAY 11

Departure

As per your flight timings, the airport transfers will be arranged for you. If you have an evening or late night flight, we would suggest to embark on a half day tour. Explore the Central Market and the Habous Quarter where you can enjoy the view of the Royal Palace and the famous Hassan II Mosque. As you say goodbye to this unique trip in Morocco, take a moment to reflect on the experiences over the days gone by and return home with a heart full of memories. In case you would like to extend your stay, we would be happy to assist.
