DAY 01

Welcome To Myanmar! Welcome to Yangon!

Prepare to be charmed by the classic wonder of this place! Bask in the beauty of Yangon, the largest city of Myanmar, with its mix of modern and British colonial architecture and the famous gilded Buddhist pagodas defining its skyline. After checking into your hotel, go for an afternoon city tour and be dazzled by the beauty of the Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda as it stands proudly with its crown that glitters with diamonds and other precious stones. Your guide will give you an introduction to Myanmar and before you end your first day in Yangon, you will visit the world famous Shwedagon Pagoda. Also known as Great Dagon Pagoda, this 2500 year old complex is the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar and is Yangon’s most important landmark.

DAY 02

Yangon and Train to Mandalay

Spend the entire day exploring Yangon which was the capital of Myanmar until 2006. Previously known as Rangoon, it is the largest city in Myanmar and is the industrial and commercial of the country. One of the most visited places in Myanmar, experience the nostalgia of this historic city first-hand as you drive through town and embrace the history of Myanmar. The streets are filled with historical buildings with faded colonial charm that cannot be matched anywhere else in Asia. You can see the lovely post office building, the Strand Hotel, Mahabandoola Garden and Independence Monument, to name a few, as you continue exploring the town. After spending the day in Yangon, board the train that will take you to Mandalay, where more excitement awaits you.

DAY 03

Begin your morning with breakfast at a local tea shop and then head out to explore the city of Mandalay. Visit two of the most famous pagodas. You’ll be in awe watching the 13 foot high Buddha in Mahamuni Pogada and the ‘World’s Biggest Book’ in Kuthodaw Pagoda, a 729 marble slab of Buddhist scriptures. Now if that’s not enough, experience time travel as you visit the only remaining building from the 19th century, the Royal Palace, and get a chance to see the exquisite wood carving of the Shwenandaw Monastery. Also visit some a traditional workshop where you can observe the production of wood carving techniques that have remained unchanged for centuries. Finally, watch the sunset from the Mandalay Hill, the highest point in the city and enjoy magnificent views of the city and the Irrawaddy River.

DAY 04

Amarapura, Sagaing Hill, and Ava

After breakfast, visit Amarapura, known as the ‘City of Immortality’. Tap into your creativity and attend a silk weaving workshop where you can feast your eyes on the exquisite handmade products with intricate designs and patterns. Along the way, pass by the Mahagandayon monastery, the home of thousands of monks and cross the U Bein Bridge, believed to be the oldest and longest teakwood bridge in the world! As you stroll along the bridge, enjoy the fabulous views of the surrounding farms and streams. Continue your tour to Sagaing Hill, the religious center of Myanmar. You can visit more pagodas here like the Swan OoPon Nya Shin and U Min ThoneSae. In the afternoon, you will ride a local ferry boat to explore Ava, the ancient imperial capital of successive Burmese Kingdoms.

DAY 05

River Cruise to Bagan

Today is going to be a very special day as you are going to cruise along the Ayerwaddy River. We are going to ditch the road today and take to the waters to travel from Mandalay to Bagan. Take in the rhythms of life on the riverside and enjoy a picturesque and relaxing cruise that includes a buffet lunch. Observe the local villagers and fishermen go about their daily lives as you sail along the banks of the river to Bagan. During this tour, you will also get to learn about Burmese longyi garments and thanaka cosmetics. Once you arrive in Bagan, you will be transferred to your hotel where you can enjoy a leisurely evening and get ready for exploring the city of Bagan the next day.

DAY 06

Bagan, the jewel in the crown of Myanmar is dotted with 4446 temples and pagodas that will trigger the explorer in you. This is going to be a day that you will always remember fondly because the temples and pagodas that you are going to witness today are very rare to find anywhere else in the world. No matter where you look, all you will see is a sea of ancient, magnificent temples all around you. Feel the calm, the peace and the vibrations of this holy land. Lunch will be in a local restaurant in Old Bagan after which you will continue visiting some more beautiful temples from where you can enjoy an unforgettable sunset. For dinner, we will arrange a traditional and highly entertaining Puppet Show performance at one of the most popular restaurants in Bagan.

DAY 07

Bagan is an ancient city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site which was the capital of the Pagan Kingdom from the 9th to 13th centuries. One day is not enough to explore Bagan so you have today to continue exploring this stunning piece of history further. After breakfast, head out and visit the Nyaung Oo Market where you can check out the produce of the villagers. You can buy anything you fancy or simply observe how the locals buy and sell their local produce. Continue towards the Phwar Saw village and get a deeper insight into the life of the local Burmese villagers. Later, you have enough time to walk around the city looking at more Pagodas at your own pace and by evening, return to your hotel feeling satisfied after having ticked off Bagan from your list.

DAY 08

Nyaung Shwe

Have an early breakfast and hit the road towards Nyaung Shwe. It is going to take over five hours to reach Nyaung Shwe but time will pass easily as you travel through stunning countryside through local villages where you can see traditional homes built on stilts. Stop for lunch at a local road side café and enjoy the warm Burmese hospitality. In the afternoon, you will reach Nyaung Shwe and check into your beautiful hotel. Spend the rest of the evening at leisure. You car hire a bicycle and ride around the local MIngalar market where you can see what locals buy on a daily basis. Or, you can visit the nearby Linn Htet restaurant which also offers cooking classes in the local cuisine.

DAY 09

Inle Lake

Time to dawn those tourists hats again! Today you are going to experience Inle Lake, a place that is unique, that has no match anywhere else in the whole world. This fresh water lake is a world on its own. Shops, restaurants, food and craft markets, tobacco and silk weaving units, Pagodas etc. are all built on the lake. Inle Lake is a world within a world! The most iconic sight on the lake is of course the fishermen dawning conical hats and using their own signature style of fishing where they use their feet to control the fishing nets. You are going to see it all today. You will lunch at a gorgeous floating restaurant and after spending the rest of the day exploring more of Inle Lake, you will head back to the hotel by evening.

DAY 10

Discover The Hidden Beauty of Indein!

Start the day by exploring the morning market or the 5 day market around the lake where the villagers trade in their local produce. The trade here is unique as it follows a 5-day rhythm. The market rotates its location around the villages on each day of the week. One of the attractions here is hidden from plain view i.e. the ethnic Padaung people, also known as the ‘long neck women’ who cover their necks with brass rings. In order to reach their tribe, you will have walk on foot on a covered alley of thousands of Pagodas and continue along a covered staircase. You will be greeted by the magnificent complex of Alaung Sithu in a beautiful scenery of ancient stupas and also get panoramic views of the lake.

DAY 11

Last Glimpse of Inle Lake

This is your last day at Nyaung Shwe and after breakfast you will be transferred to Heho airport for your flight to Yangon. But before you board the plane, you will be making a short stop at the wooden Shwe Yan Pyay Monastery. This 19th century red teak decorative monastery stands in elegance on stilts with its oval-shaped windows. Inside the monastery, you will see carved wooden bas-reliefs decorated with colorful glass mosaics and gold paint. After spending some time in this beautiful monastery, you will be taken to the airport. As your plane takes off, you will be able to see how beautiful Inle Lake is from above. Once you arrive in Yangon, you will be transferred to your hotel where you can relax and rest for the rest of the day.

DAY 12

You will find your journey in Myanmar quite remarkable, filled with cultural experiences and exotic sceneries. We will arrange a transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
