Itinerary

Day 1

Windhoek

Kick-start your unique trip by arriving at the Windhoek International Airport where you will meet your tour guide and will be transferred to your hotel. Surrounded by the stubble covered Auas Mountains and the endless Khomas Hochland, Windhoek lies in a long valley fed by ancient hot springs in the central highlands of Namibia, marking the start of your amazing Namibia trip. In Windhoek, you can spend the day visiting many historical buildings, museums, theatres, galleries, gardens and craft shops. The city has several good restaurants and modern shops and services making it an excellent base camp from which to launch your great Namibian adventure. You can ask at the reception desk or your trip planner to assist with booking dinner at one of the many restaurants in town or at their in-house restaurant.

Day 2

Windhoek – Sossusvlei

On the second day of your Namibia custom our package trip, you will start your curated travel journey south from Windhoek to Sossusvlei. Situated in the largest conservation area in Africa (the Namib-Naukluft National Park), Sossusvlei is possibly Namibia’s most spectacular and best-known attraction. Characterised by the large red dunes that surround it, Sossusvlei is a large, white, salt and clay pan and is a great holiday destination all year round. The dunes in this area are some of the highest in the world, reaching almost 400 meters, and provide photographic enthusiasts with wonderful images in the beautiful morning and evening light. After reaching your hotel, you are free to enjoy the rest of the day relaxing with nature as tomorrow would bring you yet another day full of adventure. 375 KM 07.00 HOURS

375 KM 07 HOURS
Day 3

Sossusvlei

Sossusvlei is on every traveller’s personalized itineraries Namibia list, and deservedly so. It’s one of the most spectacular sights in Namibia. Start early and stop at various points where your tour guide will share interesting insights about the history, landscape, flora, and fauna. Then your hike will involve various stops on the way to Deadvlei. Try climbing on “Big Daddy Dune” or “Big Mamma” which offers many panoramic photo stops. Travel to “Elim Dune” for a generous picnic lunch under one of the majestic Camel Thorn Trees. (We provide an elegant set up with table, chairs, table cloth, cutlery, wine cooler, glasses, hand wash basin, freshly prepared cold food and various beverages like wine, beer, soft drinks and water). Post lunch, head to Sesriem Canyon as your final stop but the start to a series of upcoming curated travel experiences.

Day 4

Sossusvlei – Swakopmund

Depart after breakfast and head north to Solitaire, then west crossing the Tropic of Capricorn through the Gaub and Kuiseb Canyons via the Namib Gravel Plains to the Skeleton Coast. Our Namibia custom tours trip also gives you the chance to explore the Namibian coastline, generally known as The Skeleton Coast due to the barren areas, shipwrecks, and in days gone by, whale skeletons left on the beach. Arriving at the luxurious and centrally located Strand Hotel, you will be able to ask them to assist with booking dinner at one of their restaurants or at one of the restaurants in town. Lunch and dinner can be enjoyed at any of the great cafés or restaurants. Enjoy the evening strolling around the idyllic town of Swakopmund.

415 KM 07 HOURS
Day 5

Swakopmund and Walvis Bay sightseeing

Surrounded by the ancient Namib desert and the inhospitable – but bounteous – Atlantic Ocean, the towns of Swakopmund and Walvis Bay are alive with activity and adventure. Both towns have a lot on offer for the adventure-seeker: quad-biking, sand-boarding, dune boarding, horse-riding, mountain biking, skydiving, surfing, surf and offshore fishing, dolphin cruises and diving – although the water temperature is below friendly. Swakopmund has an astonishing array of restaurants that serve mainly seafood, steak and many German staples. On a coastline almost 1600km long, Walvis Bay has many attractions, not least of which is its massive populations of seabirds and shorebirds in a vast lagoon south of the town at Sandwich Bay.

Day 6

Swakopmund – Etosha National Park

Post breakfast, you will be proceeding towards Etosha National Park, a unique national park in Africa. The drive from Swakopmund to Etosha National Park will take you through some remote terrains and dramatic landscapes of Namibia. Make sure to carry lunch with you as services on the way might be limited. Etosha National Park’s main characteristic is a salt pan so large it can be seen from space. Yet there is abundant wildlife that congregates around the waterholes, giving you almost guaranteed game sightings. At the same time, Etosha National Park is one of the most accessible game reserves in Namibia and Southern Africa. Upon arrival at your hotel, spend the rest of the day relaxing. Or, if you are in for some fun, our Namibia customized holiday packages allow you to partake in some exciting activities that are offered in the hotel.

500 KM 07 HOURS
Day 7

Etosha National Park

The Etosha gates open and close at sunrise and sunset. Today, you have a full day for game drive in the Etosha National Park. Etosha is one of the few places, maybe the only place, where some of the best game viewing would be during the heart of the day when animals congregate in hundreds at the waterholes to drink. As vegetation in most areas is sparse, the animals have learnt to drink during the day when predators are inactive and it is the safest time to be out in the open. It is not uncommon to see up to seven different species of game at any waterhole. After spending the entire day in the wilderness, return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8

Etosha National Park – Divava Okavango Lodge

Post breakfast, you will continue your Namibia trip towards the border of Namibia and Botswana and spend most of your day driving through remote, uninhabited, and wilderness regions of Namibia. Soak in the countryside, enjoy the silence, and look out for the local wildlife as you head north towards Divava Okavango Lodge. Located in the Kavango region of Namibia, you will arrive at this beautiful lodge by evening which is built on the banks of the Okavango river. If time permits, you can even plan to do a safari in Mahango Game Reserve which is just a ten-minute drive from the lodge. Enjoy the African hospitality and get a good night’s sleep as tomorrow you will head towards Kasane where more adventures await you.

840 KM 10 HOURS
Day 9

Divavo Okavango Lodge – Kasane

After a sumptuous breakfast, you will head towards the border of Botswana to begin your Botswana trip. Your driver will help you with the land border crossing formalities. Here, you will be on the edge of your seat as you cross a country by land which is a rare occurrence! It will be a very interesting and memorable experience. After crossing the border, head towards Kasane, a city located in the Okavango-Chobe region, the northeast corner of Botswana. Set on the south bank of the Chobe River, Kasane has one ace up its sleeve – Chobe National Park, Botswana’s first and third largest national park; it is also the most biologically diverse. After a long day on the road, you will arrive in Kasane by evening. Enjoy the first day of your Botswana custom tour and spend the evening in the laidback surroundings of your lodge.

440 KM 07 HOURS
Day 10

Chobe National Park Game Drive

Post breakfast, you will be heading for a game drive. This part of our Botswana custom tour package has awe-inspiring safari experiences, one of which is the up-close and personal sightings of wildlife at Chobe National Park. It has some of the highest game density in all of Africa. With the glittering Chobe River forming its northern boundary, this amazing safari destination is most famous for its large herds of elephants and cape buffalo. Chobe National Park is extremely lush because of the many waterways inside the park. The Chobe River flows through the park and draws many animals and birds during the dry season. After a fulfilling game session, head back to the hotel and spend the rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 11

Kasane – Victoria Falls

Post breakfast, you will head to the Kasane Immigration office where you will meet your road transfer representative and then head towards Victoria Falls to begin your Zimbabwe trip. Your driver will assist with the land border crossing formalities which is an experience in itself. The next curated travel experience on this life-changing journey which is sure to overwhelm you is getting to witness the stunning beauty of the Victoria Falls. Check into your hotel, freshen up, and relax before your tour guide takes you for a sunset boat cruise on the Zambezi river in the afternoon. On-board the cruise, as you wonder at this unique marvel of nature, you will also be served with snacks and drinks on this two-three hours long cruise.

90 KM 03 HOURS
Day 12

Victoria Falls

Known in the 1800’s by the title of ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’ [The Smoke that Thunders], the ‘greatest curtain of falling water in the world’ is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is situated on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. This breathtakingly gorgeous natural wonder on the Zambezi River is also the world’s only waterfall with a length of over a kilometre and a height of over 100 metres. After a hearty breakfast, your trip planner will pick you up for a guided tour of the falls through all the 16 viewpoints of the Victoria Falls. On the way, the trip planner will also provide insights into fascinating facts about The Falls and the river itself. After the tour, you will have an option of going to the crafts market for shopping before returning to your hotel.

Day 13

Victoria Falls – Gweta

After a hearty breakfast, you will once again return to Botswana and after completing the formalities at Kasane immigration office, start heading south towards Gweta. Just off the main highway is a dusty and laid-back crossroads town on the edge of the pans. This trivial place is considered the gateway to the Makgadikgadi Pans. Gweta derived its name from the sound of croaking bullfrogs which bury themselves in the sand until the rainy season arrives and they come out to mate. During the wet season, Zebra and Wildebeest migrate into the area. This place even has regular sightings of lion, cheetah and other predators who follow in their wake. If time permits, you can go for a drive on the salt pans. Arrive in Gweta by evening and spend the evening at leisure.

415 KM 08 HOURS
Day 14

Gweta – Maun

After spending a leisurely evening in a remote town of Africa, get ready to leave for Maun, your final destination in Botswana. As the main gateway to the Okavango Delta, Maun is Botswana’s primary tourism hub. En route to Maun, you will also pass through the extraordinary Baobab Tree Region in Makgadikgadi. Indisputably one of Earth’s most impressive varieties of trees, the Baobab trees comprise 40–75 percent water and act like succulents. There are some magnificent specimens of these vintage trees in Botswana that have stood the test of time with some of them foretold to have lived for several thousands of years. Upon arrival at Maun, check in and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

200 KM 03 HOURS
Day 15

Maun

After breakfast, get ready to head out for an exciting adventure. In Maun, you will be offered the chance to explore the wilderness in a private chartered flight. This will include a visit to the world’s largest inland delta, Okavango. Best viewed once skyborne, Okavango – also known as the ‘Last Eden on Earth’ – is home to some of the world’s most endangered species of large mammals such as the cheetah, white rhinoceros, and black rhinoceros amongst others. Flying at a height of approximately 500 feet above ground level, with gorgeous scenery below, you will get to view the vast and varied landscape of the delta from an incredible aerial perspective. Learn about the ecosystem from your guide as you look out for animals including hippos and elephants that call the Okavango Channels home.

Day 16

Maun – Windhoek

Today will be a long day on the road as you once again cross the border back to Namibia and head towards Windhoek from where you started the journey. You will have travelled through Namibia, Zimbabwe & Botswana in what can be aptly described as a sensual spectacle unlike any other you have witnessed before. After being thoroughly astounded and enthralled by the irresistible beauty of the Mother Continent, rest assured, you will take Africa in your heart wherever you go from now on. Enjoy the last day in Namibia and arrive in Windhoek by evening. Check into the hotel and spend the rest of the day relaxing and enjoying a sundowner.
