Itinerary

The convoy will assemble in the dream city of Chandigarh where you will meet our team members at the designated hotel. Afterward, a briefing session will be conducted where all travelers will be given a gist of what to expect in the next few days as we embark on this thrilling off-roading Ladakh road trip. In the evening, we’ll relish a delicious welcome dinner before retiring for the night.

We kick off our adventure with an early morning start from Chandigarh, hitting the road towards the Himalayas. As the cityscape fades behind us, the terrain transforms dramatically—rolling hills give way to towering mountains and lush green valleys, especially beyond Bilaspur, where the drive becomes truly mesmerizing.

This route is made for those who love the road—smooth stretches, twisting bends, and panoramic views that demand a photo stop every few kilometres. We’ll take a break for a hearty lunch en route, followed by a quick tea stop to recharge and soak in the mountain air.

By late evening, we’ll roll into Manali and check into our hotels and retire for the night.

After a well-earned slow morning and a relaxing breakfast and lunch in Manali, we hit the road again—this time heading towards Jispa.

Today’s drive is short but spectacular, featuring one of the highlights of the trip: the legendary Atal Tunnel. At over 9 km long, it’s the world’s longest tunnel above 10,000 feet—and the gateway to a whole new terrain.

We’ll stop briefly at Keylong Village to admire the stunning Bara-Shigri Glacier, and make a quick fuel stop at Tandi, the last petrol pump before Ladakh, before continuing the final leg of today’s journey.

Upon reaching Jispa, we will settle into our accommodations for dinner followed by an overnight stay.

Today is all about exploring the picturesque village of Jispa while allowing our bodies to acclimatise and prepare for the journey ahead. The process of acclimatisation can be accelerated by consuming lots of water which helps in keeping altitude mountain sickness at bay.

Set along the serene Bhaga River, Jispa is a picture-perfect Himalayan village, dotted with Buddhist stupas and surrounded by towering green mountains. We’ll take the vehicles for a scenic spin along the riverbanks—an easy, beautiful drive that lets you loosen up behind the wheel while enjoying nature at its purest.

After a riverside lunch, we return to the hotel for dinner and a relaxed evening

Snowy Himalayan peaks_Ladakh tour package

Today marks one of the most adventurous and scenic drives of the entire journey as we travel from Jispa to Padum, crossing the formidable Shinkula Pass at an altitude of 16,580 feet. This stretch takes us deep into the remote and stunning landscapes of the Zanskar Valley.

The route is both challenging and deeply rewarding with steep ascents, multiple water crossings, and ever-changing terrain. As we climb towards the pass, we’re treated to breathtaking views of high-altitude valleys, rugged cliffs, and winding mountain tracks that feel truly off the map.

Just after crossing Shinkula, we make a detour to visit the sacred Gonbo Rangjon, a majestic standalone peak that rises dramatically from the Zanskar plains. Believed by locals to be a spiritual mountain associated with Guru Padmasambhava, this spot is one of the most awe-inspiring and peaceful locations on the entire route — a true hidden gem that feels untouched by time.

Descending into Zanskar, the surroundings become even more dramatic with vast open spaces, crystal-clear rivers, and a raw, untouched beauty that makes every kilometre worth the effort. For driving enthusiasts, this is a day that captures the spirit of Himalayan overlanding.

We reach Padum, the heart of Zanskar, by evening. After a long day behind the wheel, enjoy a hearty dinner and settle in for a peaceful night in this remote mountain town.

Today, we embark on a spectacular drive from Padum to Kargil, traversing the majestic Penzi La Pass, situated at an elevation between 4,401 and 4,450 metres. This route offers some of the most awe-inspiring landscapes of the journey, as we transition from the isolated beauty of Zanskar to the historic town of Kargil.

The ascent to Penzi La is a highlight in itself, marked by winding mountain roads, sweeping valleys, and distant views of towering snow-capped peaks. The pass acts as a natural gateway between Zanskar and the Suru Valley, offering panoramic views that make this stretch especially memorable.

As we keep driving towards Kargil, the scenery shifts once again, revealing a patchwork of high-altitude villages, glacier-fed streams, and dramatic rock formations. The road, though demanding at times, rewards every moment behind the wheel with its ever-changing beauty.

By evening, we arrive in Kargil, a historically significant town that once served as a key stop on ancient trade routes. After a long day on the road, enjoy a warm meal and rest in preparation for the next leg of the adventure.

Group at mountain pass_Ladakh tour package

Today, we begin our drive towards Leh, crossing two prominent high-altitude passes, Namika La (3,700 m) and Fotu La (4,108 m). The route offers a seamless blend of adventure and awe, with winding roads, deep gorges, and expansive views of the barren yet stunning Ladakhi landscape.

En route we will also indulge in a sightseeing tour of Kargil. Our first major stop is at the Kargil War Memorial in Dras, a place that fills you with pride and gratitude for the sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces. Here, you can pay homage to the brave soldiers and take in the views of the historic Tololing Heights and Tiger Hill.

Continuing our journey, we traverse the stunning landscapes of Ladakh, arriving at the mysterious Magnetic Hill. Experience the fascinating phenomenon here where vehicles seemingly defy gravity! From there, we stop at the serene Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, a place of immense spiritual significance that dates back to 1517 and honors the visit of Guru Nanak Dev Ji to Ladakh.

As the road winds through the barren yet beautiful terrain, we reach Leh, the heart of Ladakh. Settle into your hotel, relax, and take some time to acclimatize to the high altitude.

Today is all about exploring the fascinating sights of Leh, blending history, culture, and stunning views. We kick off the day with a visit to the majestic Leh Palace, a nine-storey marvel built in the 17th century by King Sengge Namgyal. Resembling the iconic Potala Palace in Tibet, the palace offers panoramic views of the Ladakh region and Stok Kangri from its rooftop.

Next, we head to the serene Shanti Stupa, perched on a hilltop. This stunning white chorten, built to promote world peace, offers breathtaking bird’s-eye views of Leh and its surroundings.

Post sightseeing, enjoy some leisure time in Leh Market, where you can explore local handicrafts, souvenirs, and vibrant street life. End your day with a relaxing evening at your hotel.

Today’s drive from Leh to Nubra Valley is packed with thrill and adventure at every turn. Driving through Ladakh is an experience like no other, and today’s route will keep the adrenaline high as we journey toward the stunning Nubra Valley.

One of the most exhilarating parts of the day will be crossing Khardung La, one of the world’s highest motorable passes, perched at a remarkable altitude of 18,379 feet. Known as the gateway to Shyok and Nubra Valleys, reaching the top of Khardung La is a true achievement, offering breathtaking panoramic views that make the climb worth every bit of effort.

En route, we will stop to visit the Diskit Monastery. Belonging to the 14th century, the monastery is considered to be the largest and oldest monastery in Nubra Valley. Also known as Diskit Gompa, the monastery's most prominent attraction is the huge Maitreya Buddha statue atop it which was inaugurated by HH Dalai Lama.

Upon reaching Nubra Valley, we’ll settle into our accommodation, taking in the beauty of the valley as we unwind for the night.

Today, we dive into the unique charm of Nubra Valley, famous for its sweeping sand dunes and the rare double-humped Bactrian camels. Begin with an unforgettable camel safari, taking in the vast desert landscape against the backdrop of rugged mountains. For those seeking more adventure, thrilling ATV rides across the dunes offer a heart-pounding way to experience the valley’s raw beauty.

The rest of the day is at your leisure to explore or relax as you please. In the evening, we’ll come together for a delicious dinner under the starry Ladakhi sky, capping off a day of remarkable experiences in this incredible valley.

The drive from Nubra to Leh via Pangong is nothing short of epic. You'll begin by driving to the stunning Pangong Lake, located at an altitude of around 13,860 ft. This high-altitude lake, famous for its ever-changing shades of blue, is one of the most iconic sights in Ladakh. After spending some peaceful, unforgettable time by the lake, we hit the road again and head towards Leh.

En route, we’ll cross the mighty Chang La Pass, which sits at an altitude of approximately 17,590 ft — making it one of the highest motorable mountain passes in the world. The climb will be steep, the air will be crisp, and the views will be absolutely surreal making this stretch of our Ladakh road trip unforgettable.

As we descend from Chang La and approach Leh, the landscapes slowly shift, wrapping up an adventurous and spectacular day on the road. Upon reaching Leh, we will check into our designated stay and retire for the night.

After days of high-altitude drives and rugged terrain, today is all about slowing down and soaking in the calm of Leh. It’s a relaxed day to catch your breath, explore at your own pace, or just enjoy a quiet cup of tea with a view.

We’ll take a short drive to visit the beautiful Thiksey Monastery, perched on a hilltop and resembling a mini Potala Palace.

Home to a stunning statue of the Maitreya Buddha and peaceful prayer halls, it offers both spiritual insight and panoramic views of the Indus Valley.

After the visit, the rest of the day is yours to relax, wander around Leh town, or simply unwind before the next leg of the Ladakh road trip.

Today, we kick off our return drive, making sure to check off some of the iconic spots on our bucket list. Our first stop is Zing Zing Bar, followed by the legendary Baralacha La, another high mountain pass that all travelers dream of conquering. At an altitude of 16,040 feet, crossing Baralacha La is a thrilling achievement as we navigate through rugged terrains.

As we continue, we’ll pass through the scenic More Plains, a vast stretch of land surrounded by the majestic Himalayan peaks. The drive will then lead us to the Gata Loops, a set of 21 challenging hairpin bends that offer both excitement and awe-inspiring views—definitely not for the faint-hearted!

After conquering these serpentine routes, we’ll finally reach Jispa for an overnight stay.

Ladakh Tour Package Scenic Roads, Mountains & Monasteries

A Ladakh tour isn’t just a holiday it’s a passage into a raw, surreal world where every turn on the high mountain passes reveals ancient monasteries, luminous lakes, and a culture untouched by time. Nestled at over 11,000 feet above sea level, Ladakh is not just about dramatic landscapes it’s about discovering a silence that echoes. For Indian travelers seeking more than a tick-box itinerary, this journey offers space for reflection, thrill, and deep cultural connection.

Unlike off-the-shelf trips, our Ladakh tour package is custom-built whether you’re craving a winter expedition to frozen rivers, a private family escape with Indian meals and local support in Hindi, or a group adventure through Nubra Valley and Pangong Tso. You don’t just see Ladakh you feel it, taste it, and breathe it at your pace. Acclimatization days, and even a Zanzibar beach extension after the rugged terrain everything is designed to match your travel rhythm.

Choosing when to visit Ladakh isn’t just about the weather it’s about the kind of experience you want. While most people flock to Ladakh between May and September, when the roads from Manali and Srinagar are open and high-altitude passes like Khardung La are accessible, each season brings a different side of Ladakh to life.

  • May–June: Ideal for first-timers. Snow still blankets the higher altitudes, rivers are full, and places like Pangong Lake start to thaw perfect for dramatic landscapes without extreme cold.
  • July–August: The heart of Ladakh’s travel season. Clear skies, festivals like Hemis in full swing, and stable road conditions. It’s also the best time for self-drive tours and group departures.
  • September–October: Quieter, with golden-brown landscapes and fewer tourists. This is a great window for photographers and those seeking a more introspective, spiritual experience.
  • December–February: For the bold. The Chadar Trek (on the frozen Zanskar River) and snow-draped monasteries offer a surreal side of Ladakh perfect for custom winter expeditions.

Tip for Indian travelers: If you’re planning a winter visit, opt for guided tours with oxygen backup, winterized vehicles, and homestays with heating comfort makes the difference at -20°C.

Things to do in Ladakh

Ladakh isn’t about ticking off spots it’s about immersing yourself in experiences that stay with you long after the journey ends. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker, a spiritual wanderer, or a culture enthusiast, Ladakh offers more than just photo ops.

Drive the World’s Highest Motorable Pass

Khardung La is not just a road it’s a rite of passage. Driving here, especially on a self-drive expedition, gives you bragging rights and breathtaking views, but it also teaches patience, resilience, and respect for nature.

Ride to Pangong Tso & Beyond

The shimmering blue of Pangong Lake isn’t just for Instagram. Go early morning, when it’s still and silent, and you’ll feel like time’s stopped. Add Tso Moriri for a quieter, lesser-known lake experience.

Camp Under the Stars in Nubra

From dune-side camping in Hunder to watching double-humped Bactrian camels walk past your tent, Nubra is raw and surreal. Adventure activities like ATV rides and zip-lining are popular, especially with younger Indian travelers.

Meditate in 1,000-Year-Old Monasteries

Places like Diskit, Hemis, and Thiksey Monastery aren’t just sightseeing spots they’re living cultural spaces. Join a morning prayer session or just sit silently with the monks.

Try a Frozen Adventure (in Winter)

Winter brings the iconic Chadar Trek, frozen waterfalls, and the chance to see snow leopards. It’s challenging, yes but with the right support crew, it’s unforgettable.

Best places to visit with Ladakh Tour Package

Your journey from Chandigarh to Ladakh isn’t just a road trip it’s a carefully layered experience across some of the most stunning and culturally significant regions in the Himalayas. Here’s a breakdown of the most unmissable places in Ladakh that this itinerary covers:

Jispa The Gateway to the High Himalayas

A quiet Himalayan hamlet, Jispa is more than just an acclimatization stop. Nestled along the Bhaga River, it offers star-studded skies and a peaceful vibe to prepare your body for the higher altitudes ahead.

Padum Remote Beauty in Zanskar

Reaching Padum via Shinku La Pass is an adventure in itself. This remote town in Zanskar Valley is dotted with ancient monasteries like Karsha Gompa and surrounded by raw, untouched mountain beauty. It’s spiritual, secluded, and scenic.

Kargil Beyond the War Stories

While most associate Kargil with history, it also serves as a base to explore Suru Valley or soak in local Balti culture. It’s a cultural transition zone between Kashmir and Ladakh.

Leh The Cultural Heart of Ladakh

The capital of Ladakh is more than a hub it’s where ancient meets modern. Visit Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace, and Thiksey Monastery, or wander through the old Tibetan market. Leh is also where you’ll get your permits for Nubra and Pangong.

Nubra Valley Desert Among the Mountains

Cross Khardung La, one of the highest motorable roads, to reach this high-altitude desert. Ride double-humped camels in Hunder, walk along the river in Turtuk, and visit the ancient Diskit Monastery perched on a hill.

Pangong Lake Where Sky Meets Water

This saltwater lake, at over 13,000 ft, changes color through the day from turquoise to deep blue. Spending a night here (with oxygen backup) lets you witness sunrise over the mountains reflecting in the still waters.

Each stop is not just a location it’s a layer of Ladakh’s diverse soul. This itinerary ensures you don’t just “visit Ladakh,” you live Ladakh.

Tips for Leh Ladakh trip

Traveling to Ladakh isn’t like a regular hill station getaway. The altitude, terrain, and remoteness demand smart planning especially if you’re coming from the plains. Here are practical tips tailored for Indian travelers to make your Ladakh trip safe, smooth, and unforgettable:

Acclimatization is Non-Negotiable

Altitude sickness can hit anyone. Make sure your itinerary (like ours) includes rest days in Jispa and Leh. Avoid physical exertion for the first 24–36 hours and stay hydrated but not over-hydrated.

Choose the Right Vehicle

Avoid basic vehicles for long drives. Stick to SUVs or 4×4 vehicles with experienced drivers who know mountain conditions. Self-drives are thrilling, but support crew and backup are essential.

Meals Matter Stick to Light Indian Food

Many Indian travelers face digestion issues at high altitudes. Opt for simple Indian meals, avoid heavy fried foods, and carry dry snacks like roasted chana, khakhra, and ORS packets.

Hindi and Local Support Help a Lot

English isn’t widely spoken in remote villages. Our tours offer on-ground Hindi-speaking support, which makes navigating local markets, homestays, and monasteries much easier.

No Network ≠ No Help

Mobile coverage is limited outside Leh (only postpaid BSNL, Airtel, or Jio works). That’s why our team carries satellite phones or radio devices for emergency coordination on remote routes.

Pack for Unpredictable Weather

Even in July, mornings can be freezing. Layer up with thermals, fleece, windcheaters, and sun protection. If traveling in winter, confirm your accommodation has proper heating, hot water, and oxygen.

Pack Essentials, Not Just Clothes

Carry a basic first aid kit, motion sickness tablets, sunscreen (SPF 50+), sunglasses, lip balm, extra batteries, and ID proof with multiple photocopies for permits.

Ladakh Group Tour Package

Ladakh is thrilling but not always easy. Traveling in a group makes the experience smoother, safer, and far more memorable especially when curated with the right people and support. Our Ladakh group tour package is ideal for solo travelers, couples, or small friend circles who want to explore the high Himalayas without the stress of managing logistics in extreme terrain.

Each departure is limited to a small group size, allowing you to enjoy deeper connections, personalized attention, and less rushed experiences. You’ll travel with fellow Indian adventurers, share meals (yes, Indian food is provided!), and have a Hindi-speaking crew on board no language gaps, no cultural mismatch.

All permits, route planning, and health precautions are managed for the group so you can focus on the experience. Whether you’re crossing Khardung La, sitting in silence by Pangong Lake, or riding camels in Nubra, you’ll be doing it with a community that shares your wonder.

Whether it’s a private SUV with a dedicated driver, handpicked boutique stays with mountain views, or a flexible plan that gives you space to slow down it’s tailored to your pace.
