✦ About Adventures Overland

Connecting continents, cultures and people.

Beyond destinations. Beyond borders.

OUR STORY

It Started With One
Impossible Idea

In 2012, two friends - Sanjay Madan and Tushar Agarwal - looked at a map and asked a question most people would laugh at: "Can we drive Around the World?" 15 months and 90,000 kilometers later, they had their answer - and a Guinness World Record.

That single journey sparked a movement. Today, Adventures Overland has guided 5,000+ travellers across 50+ countries, pioneering legendary convoys like Road to London, Iceland, Mongolia, Himalayas, Supercar Drives and a lot more.

We remain what we were on day one: drivers, dreamers, and believers that the best way to see the world is from behind the wheel.

It Started With One
What Drives Us

Vision, Mission And Philosophy

The compass behind every kilometre we plan and every convoy we lead.
Our Vision

A World Without Boundaries. One Road at a Time.

To be the world's most trusted name in overland exploration - a company that connects people, cultures, and continents through the transformative power of the open road. We see a world where borders are not barriers but beginnings, where the journey is never secondary to the destination, and where the act of driving through a country - slowly, deliberately, with all five senses - becomes the deepest way to understand it.

Our Vision
Our Mission

Obsess Over the Details. Deliver the Extraordinary.

To craft meticulously planned, fully supported self-drive expeditions where every detail, from visas, border crossings, vehicle logistics, accommodation, fuel, safety, and on-road coordination, is handled end-to-end, so that all you have to do is drive.

We exist to remove every obstacle between you and the world's most extraordinary roads. The paperwork, the permits, the border formalities at 3 a.m. in a country where you don't speak the language - we've solved all of it, hundreds of times, across 75+ countries and six continents. Our Expedition Leaders don't hand you a map and wish you luck. They drive with you, in the convoy, from the first kilometre to the last.

We don't sell tours. We engineer journeys and then we handle everything around them so the only thing you carry is the experience.

Our Mission
Our Philosophy

Born on the Road. Built Around You.

The road is the destination.

We were founded by two people who drove 90,000 kilometres around the world before they ever sold a single trip. That isn't a marketing line — it's the reason this company exists. Every route we offer has been personally driven by the people who run this company. Every expedition is built from direct experience, not a template.

You drive. We handle everything else.

An Adventures Overland expedition puts you behind the wheel, but behind you is an entire operation - Expedition Leaders managing the convoy, a logistics team that has pre-cleared every border, pre-booked every stay, and pre-solved every problem you don't even know exists. Radio communication connects every vehicle. Support crews travel with the group. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, the only decision you make is how fast to take the next corner.

Obsessive planning is our love language.

We plan expeditions the way engineers build bridges - with margins for error, backup routes, contingency fuel stops, and the kind of operational detail that most travellers never see. The pillow quality at the hotel in Veal Veng. The fuel availability on the stretch between Battambang and Siem Reap. This is what fourteen years of expedition experience looks like.

Community over commerce.

Over 5,000 explorers have driven with us. Many come back, season after season, expedition after expedition, and many bring their families. What starts as a road trip becomes a lifelong connection. Every convoy becomes a family. The dinner table at the end of a 400-kilometre day when the dust has settled, the stories start flowing, and strangers become friends - that's the part no itinerary can capture. But it's the part people remember most.

Leave the road better than we found it.

We are the world's first carbon-neutral road trip company. Every vehicle's emissions in every AO convoy are fully offset through certified sustainability initiatives. Our travellers stay in local homestays, eat at community-run restaurants, and minimise single-use plastic. The roads we love deserve to be here for the next generation of drivers. We intend to make sure they are.

Our Philosophy
Meet the Founders

The Duo That Charted
Every Mile Themselves.

Route intelligence isn't something you can outsource, and there is no substitute for having driven the road yourself. This is where our founders' experience makes the difference. Sanjay Madan and Tushar Agarwal built Adventures Overland on that kind of knowledge - the kind that only comes from having driven it first, and driven it again. The kind that comes from having broken down in the middle of nowhere, from knowing which border guard remembers your name, from driving the same stretch of road often enough to know exactly where it turns unkind.

"We never set out to build a travel company. We just wanted people to experience the world through our lens."

Tushar Agarwal

6 ContinentsGuinness RecordAuthor

In 2010, Tushar Agarwal left his career as an IT consultant, got behind the wheel, and drove from London to Delhi — the first Indian to do so. That 51‑day, 17‑country journey became the seed for everything that followed.

He co‑authored two travelogues — Road Affair and The Great Indian World Trip — documenting expeditions that include the Trans Himalayan Challenge (a 5,500 km non‑stop drive), the first drive to Mana Pass (the highest motorable road in the world), the ASEAN India Car Rally from Singapore to India, and the round‑the‑world drive with Sanjay. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, London, a Guinness World Record holder, and a National Geographic–recognised explorer. His travel experiences span 95+ countries, and he remains personally involved in route design for every AO expedition.
