Trip Overview

In recent years, Jordan has become a popular destination for those who want to travel the off-beat path. The starkly beautiful landscape of Jordan prepares you for a visual delight with its beauty, as does the mix of seascapes and sand dunes. The Arabian patina, mixed with unique areas such as Petra and the formidable Dead Sea, take us to places we can only remember reading in history books. Let’s travel to Jordan uniquely by driving in a convoy of Land Cruisers through its historical roads, dune bashing on Wadi Rum and floating in the Dead Sea.

Itinerary

Start your Middle Eastern sojourn in Amman, the beautiful capital of Jordan. Your journey in Jordan begins as soon as your flight lands at Queen Alia International Airport. Our representative will assist you through all immigration and customs procedures. Check-in at the hotel and rest awhile before you gear up for all the adventures in store. Amman is a fascinating city of contrasts - a unique blend of old and new, situated on a hilly area between the desert and the fertile Jordan Valley. If a journey through history is what you’re looking for, then the best place to start would be the Citadel. At night, we have planned a dinner where you get a chance to get to know your fellow participants as you wine & dine together!

Wake up at leisure and get ready to explore Amman and Jerash today. After a hearty breakfast, wear your tourist hats as we hop on a coach and make our way towards Jerash. This beautiful place is considered one of the largest and most well-preserved sites of Roman architecture in the world outside Italy. The ancient city is also well known for its colonnaded streets, temples and theatres. After exploring Jerash for a few hours, enjoy a delightful lunch in a Lebanese restaurant in Amman and later continue exploring the panoramic city of Amman. You will also get a chance to shop and pick up some souvenirs today. We will end this beautiful day having a scrumptious dinner at a local restaurant.

Post breakfast we start driving to Wadi Rum. Meandering on the King’s Highway - undoubtedly one of the most scenic and historic roads in the world - the sight of your Land Cruiser romancing those vintage slopes will be just exceptional. The most exciting part of the day begins when we reach one of the most breathtaking canyons, Wadi Al Hasa. It is the longest and the most beautiful Wadi in Jordan and considered to be Jordan’s natural water park. Witness natural gardens of palm trees, warm springs, hidden pools along the Wadi as it meanders towards the Dead Sea. Also, get a slice of Heaven amidst the tranquil ambience. End the day glamping in Bedouin-style tents in the desert environment of Wadi Rum.

Time to explore ‘The Valley of the Moon’ – Wadi Rum. Here you will find adventure and feel the romance of the Arabian desert. This desert is a Hollywood favourite, with films like “The Last Days on Mars”, “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”, “The Martian” to name a few. Enjoy driving on sand dunes, check out the graffiti inscriptions and canyons while exploring the most interesting and exciting sites of Wadi Rum. Experience a full day of off-road driving along the southern border of Wadi Rum via the old Roman Road and discover natural rock bridges and incredible sculptures. Ride a camel through the overly dramatic landscape with colourful hues of sand in pink and white! End the day with gazing at millions of stars as you witness the magic of a beautiful desert sunset.

Today we set out for Aqaba, Jordan’s only seaport because of freshwater springs in the vicinity. Don’t miss the King Solomon’s port, one of the most iconic symbols of Aqaba. It’s a city steeped in rich history back to pre-biblical times ruled by the Romans, Mamluks, and Ottomans. Park your vehicles and get ready to hop on a private sailing boat where you will enjoy a delightful lunch. After a few days in Wadi Rum, Aqaba will come as a welcome change and you will enjoy the cool breeze and sparkling warm waters of the Red Sea where you can also experience diving or snorkelling to experience the bright coloured coral and fish. Put on your diving gear to enter the water and explore the abundance of marine life. After a day full of adventure set out for dinner at local restaurant.

Who hasn’t heard about the lost city of Petra in Jordan – one of the new 7 Wonders of the World! The magnificent hand-carved architecture of Petra is Jordan’s number one tourist attraction and a UNESCO Heritage Site. After a relaxing day in Aqaba, we will drive to the ancient “rose-red” city of Petra to reach our hotel by the evening. Petra is wonderful in the day, but Petra by Night is pure magic. If you are not tired by the end of the day, we suggest a visit to Petra by Night. Take in the incredible sights as you stroll down the Siq to the Treasury, lit with over 1800 candles, with the traditional Jordanian music played by the local Bedouins in the background.

Rise and shine and live your Hollywood dream today! Start your day with a hearty breakfast before deciding how you want to spend your day in this rose red city. Little is known about Petra’s history. It was the capital city of the Nabataeans from roughly 300 BC to 100 AD. Petra is half-built, half-carved into the rock, and is surrounded by mountains riddled with passages and gorges. It is one of the world’s most famous archaeological sites, where ancient Eastern traditions blend with Hellenistic architecture. Petra was also named amongst the New 7 Wonders of the World in 2007 and was chosen by the Smithsonian Magazine as one of the “28 Places to See Before You Die.” Visit the Siq, the Treasury, the Monastery, Street of Facades, Colonnaded Street on a walking tour.

After a relaxed breakfast, we will drive through the Dead Sea highway to reach the shores of Dead Sea that is hundreds of feet below sea level, making it the lowest point on earth. Sometimes all it takes to reach a new high is to dive low. This body of deep blue waters is the lowest point on Earth. Surrounded by barren hills, this remarkable body of water has an amazingly high salt content (33%), which means no animal life can survive here, and it is almost impossible to sink! We will reach our resort in Dead Sea by afternoon and conclude our drive. Post lunch, you will have enough time to float in the remarkable waters of the Dead Sea or sunbathe at the beach.

For the last time, you shouldn’t miss soaking in the waters of the Dead Sea and covering yourself with its black mud which gives a natural spa feel. All good things come to an end and so must the Jordan Expedition. Catch your flight back home with a heart full of memories, new friendships & unforgettable experiences.
