ROAD TO LONDON
Jordan is an experience that will either become a remarkable ‘forever’ memory or a journey that you would crave to experience time and again. It is a Middle Eastern ethereal gem that transcends your heart and soul into a space-time where all things feel, just perfect.
On arrival in Kyrgyzstan’s capital, Bishkek, you will be transferred to the hotel, where you will meet your fellow travelers. Bishkek is situated in the Chu River valley, amidst beautiful sceneries all around. After a brief break, we will visit the heart of the city – the Ala-Too Square where the State Historical Museum is also located. Enjoy a walk in Oak Park, one of the favorite places in town, and visit the Osh bazaar before we head to our welcome dinner.
Embark on an exhilarating journey that takes you back in time, as we explore the mystical wonders of Kyrgyzstan. Our adventure begins at the captivating Burana Tower, an ancient minaret standing tall in the Chuy Valley. As our appetite for discovery grows, we’ll indulge in a mouthwatering lunch hosted by a local Dungan family. Next, we venture deeper into the breathtaking landscapes of Kyrgyzstan, making our way to Chon Kemin, and brace yourself for an awe-inspiring drive through rugged mountain gorges, where nature’s majesty unfolds before your eyes. Upon reaching the enchanting village of Tar Suu, you’ll be treated to a delightful horse-drawn carriage ride. Feel the gentle sway as you traverse the picturesque streets, soaking in the serenity of this idyllic haven.
After a hearty breakfast, we rev up our “iron horses” and conquer the Boom gorge. The magnificent Issyk-Kul region awaits, with its historic Lake Issyk-Kul—a respite on our “Great Winter Path.” We continue along the lake’s shore, pausing at a panoramic point near Ornok village, where the stunning vista of the lake and majestic mountains unfold. A moment of tranquility follows. Post lunch, Cholpon Ata prepares us for an unforgettable boat trip. For two hours, we sail across Lake Issyk-Kul, witnessing the captivating sunset and the grandeur of the Tien Shan mountains. Breathe in the fresh air and embrace the natural beauty that surrounds us.
The Grigoriev and Semienov gorges form the principal attractions today. Located on the northern shore of Issyk Kul Lake, 60 kilometers from Cholpon Ata, these gorges offer untamed nature with hiking trails. You can hear the noise of the mountain river with glacial clear water, which flows down to the valley. The middle part of the valley is crowned with two snowy peaks: the peak of Kum-Bel (4200 m) and Eshenbulak peak (4647m). A hot steaming lunch awaits you followed by a visit to an Orthodox Church and the famous Dungan Mosque in Karakol.
The adventure shall never stop as today we hike on the territory of the Ski base before taking a ski lift to Panorama Point. After soaking in the best that nature has to offer, we will return to the base using the ski lift. Enjoy lunch at a nearby café with scenic views and later, watch the Kyrgyz traditional horse game Kok-Boru, which is played by two teams on horseback. Appreciate the speed of horses, the agility of the riders as they vie for the dead goat – the prize for the winning team. After a long day of activity, we will return to Karakol.
Another day of nature immersion awaits as we head to Jeti Oguz translated as “Seven Bulls”. Dense vegetation covers the red rocks of the gorge. Our next stop is the most sought-after attraction in Barskoon gorge where the sheer drop of the waterfall creates a lovely sound. After lunch at Tamga Village, we will drive to Skazka canyons which signify ‘Fairytale’ and en route to Bokonbaevo, where we will experience eagle hunters with their birds of prey. This is one of the signature experiences of Kyrgyzstan, as you witness eagles with wingspan of 6 feet fly with great speed and hunt with precision. It is one of the oldest traditions of Kyrgyz nomads.
Begin a captivating morning as we unravel the secrets of crafting Shyrdaks, the UNESCO-listed Kyrgyz felt carpets. Immerse yourself in the ancient nomadic art during a traditional felt show. Our goal for the day is to return to Bishkek, and the journey promises excitement at every turn. Conquering the Kyzart pass at 2664 meters, we pause in the charming village of Kyzyl Tuu for a delightful lunch. Energized, we continue our way, passing through the enchanting Suusamyr valley and ascending the majestic Too Ashuu mountain pass, standing tall at 3500 meters. From this lofty vantage point, the entire valley sprawls before us—a vision of pristine white snow and invigorating fresh air. We are sure of this unforgettable journey back to Bishkek, leaving etching memories that will last a lifetime.
After witnessing Kyrgyzstan’s raw and unadulterated beauty, the expedition ends today. We’ll leave for the airport, and as you embark on your flight home, we are sure there will be a lingering feeling in your heart to explore more of Central Asia.
